Tom Steinmetz, MA
Tom Steinmetz is the Program Director for Washburn Child Guidance Center, a 120+ year old Community Mental Health Center in Minneapolis. In this role, Tom oversees the management of the agency’s mental health, early intervention and consultation programs and coordinates new program development with the agency’s development, finance and human resources areas. Previously, Tom was a therapist, program supervisor and trainer at Washburn, providing therapeutic services for children with severe emotional and behavioral problems, and doing training and consultation with schools, families, and community agencies.
He has presented extensively at local and regional workshops on subjects such as innovations in the treatment of childhood trauma, working with angry and aggressive children, and the role of memory in treatment. Tom completed his Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of Minnesota and has been with Washburn for the last 11 years.
